A few years back or precisely in 2010 was when this story begins. That was the time when the world was recovering from an economic recession, India was preparing for a home cricket world cup, Burj Khalifa was officially opened, while SpaceX launched the Dragon Capsule. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, a guy joined an engineering college. That was me and I joined an engineering college to study biotechnology !
It would be just fair to say that when I joined the college, I was a rookie! But over the years as I was deep diving and learning more about biotechnology, I started facing one common problem. The problem was explaining to people around me what I was studying. Biotechnology as it sounds comes straight out of your sci-fi movies. Where else would you study about growing artificial body parts or mutations or making drugs out of invisible creatures ! Making people believe that all that is actually possible and to explain it in the simplest of words was always a challenge.
And that was precisely the inspiration behind ‘APPUKUTTAN - exploring biotech’. Appukuttan (a nickname for guys in South India) is my attempt at making biotechnology simple and fun ! Appukuttan is me, my best version exploring, learning and explaining biotechnology through my experiences in life !
